AyurVAID treatment for RHD, APD, Inguinal hernia and COPD
A 60 year old male patient walked into AyurVAID with the complaints labored respiration (Dyspnoea) for the past 15 years. He also suffered from stomach pain for over six years which resulted in a swelling in the left inguinal region for two years.
In view of his symptoms and condition, AyurVAID decided to use treatments of Hrid roga, Vata kaphaja shwasa, Vatika Gulma and Grahani. The treatments lasted for a period of 12 days, which was coupled by a three month follow up duration.
The medical strategy adopted included:
- Planning of the Sthoka Sthoka Dosha Nirharana after considering the Roga Bala and Rogi Bala (2: 1)
- Ensuring Vatanulomana for relieving the Vatika Gulma & Grahani
- Following up with Pranavaha Sroto specific Rasayana.
The treatment was a success and at the time of discharge the patient was asymptomatic. His exertion tolerance for respiration had improved considerably. His airway was clearer allowing a peak flow of 40% bilaterally. The patient’s abdominal discomfort was also reduced which brought down the pain he experienced in his lower back.
Findings & Conclusions:
Here the patient was presented with Rheumatic heart disease, COPD, repeated attack of Pneumonia resulting in the Fibrotic lesion of lung. This was further complicated by APD and Inguinal hernia. In such a condition wherein the patient is weak and the pathology is strong, we need to implement mild conservative treatment modalities and thereafter continue with Rasayana therapy which has immuno modulatory action. It re-vitalizes the body hence improving condition.
