AyurVAID strongly opposes such magical claims by individuals and organisations in the name of Ayurveda. While it temporarily furthers the business interests of individuals/organisations and the size of their follower base, It dilutes the genuine efforts of many organisations in the Ayurveda sector to establish it as a treatment of choice for select medical conditions. #AyurVAID takes tremendous care in ensuring that it does not claim anything that is not supported by published research or by clinical outcomes consistently achieved in its own medical practice. That which we are willing to stand scrutiny for.

A lot of distorted half-truths abound on Indian TV channels wherein all kinds of 'herbal remedies' are given the stamp of authenticity by a cooked-up audience and pictures of Rishis-Munis in costume. The Indian Mythological Circus perpetuates myths around its traditional medicine for a gullible public.

It is high time that the Ministry of #AYUSH (@shripadynaik) develops and circulates clear communication guidelines/recommendations for the sector. Two objectives: 1 To prevent distorted, false communication regarding the Ayurveda sector , and 2. To encourage right, accurate communication on Ayurveda. Ayurveda as a global brand has to be nurtured- driven by design, clarity of intent, and not left to unscrupulous business interests to exploit.

The Ayurveda industry has recently proposed to Mr Ajit Saran, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH (@moayush) to take up this task proactively. Mr. Saran has responded positively and invited industry to take the lead and participate in this exercise. A beginning has been made.
