PCOS: An Infertility issue very well understood by Ayurveda
Mrs P, 28 year old came to AyurVAID Hospitals with tremendous hope and dreams in her eyes to deal with the blow of infertility following an early preganancy failure.
She was diagnosed with Poly cystic Ovarian Syndrome and in the process to treat it underwent a battery of investigations and painful treatments. But all in vain.
She was then in the hands of widely experienced Ayurveda physicians at AyurVAID. Experts, here diagnosed the root cause of her problem- that is high imbalances of Kapha and Vata which led to channel blocks at cellular and tissue levels and manifesting into symptoms like irregular periods, weight gain, and infertility - triad of PCOS.
Mrs P was advised to undergo classical Ayurveda cleansing therapies and internal Ayurveda medicines to cleanse the accumulating imbalances of Kapha and Vata dosha along with diet and lifestyle prescriptions to follow.
She was advised to take Ayurveda Garbhasthapak- and GarbharakshakAushadhis to nurture an environment to bring in harmony of Rutu- menstrual period, Kshetra- uterus - its implantation capacity, Ambu- amniotic fluid and Beej- healthy ovum which Ayurveda states clearly is primary in addressing the problem of infertility.
A period of some months and finally a day when she was overfilled with joy.Evertything was back in her world !! Yes she concieved and delivered a healthy baby boy !!!
Bundles of happiness and contentment on the part of both patient and the Physicians which is beyond words !!
Ayurveda brings about the root cause management of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Ayurveda states principle primary cause does not only lie in the reproductive system of a female. It could be the accummulations of imbalances of doshas and dhatus which are to be brought in place.
Also agrees Dr. R. Scott Lucidi, an expert on PCOS at Virginia Commonwealth University, :" Whether the condition starts in the ovaries is not certain".
Dr.Lucidi and others have suggested that insulin resistance could be the underlying factor responsible for the disparate symptoms of PCOS.
This clearly is the evidence put forth by Acharya Sushruta centuries ago to predict the inter relation of insulin resistance and irregular menstrual cycles. This is a hint that Ayurveda clearly and well understood the condition of PCOS.
