What Is Spondylitis?
Spondylitis is a spine condition used to describe a group of arthritic spine conditions that cause inflammation in the joints and vertebrae.
Spondylosis Vs Spondylitis:
Many patients are confused by the similarity of the terms “spondylitis” and “spondylosis.” But it is important that you are aware of the difference between the two, as this is a matter that concerns your spine. To put it simply, while Spondylosis is degenerative in nature, Spondylitis is inflammatory.
Spondylitis is a spine condition used to describe a group of arthritic spine conditions that cause inflammation in the joints and vertebrae. Spondylitis has no known cause, but it largely considered to be a genetic disease. In severe cases of spondylitis, the arthritis in the joints of the spine will deteriorate the joints, causing the vertebrae to fuse together and limit mobility in that section of the spine. There is no known fool proof treatment for spondylitis, but several types of Ayurveda Spondylitis stabilization procedures are available at AyurVAID and can help reduce pain and increase mobility at the site of the condition.
Spondylosis is also a form of arthritis in the spine. However, instead of causing inflammation in the spine, spondylosis causes deterioration of the joints and vertebrae. It is often caused by general wear and tear of the spine, such as vertebrae compressing over time and deteriorating the discs found between the vertebrae. Spondylosis can also cause the compression of a nearby nerve root, causing severe and chronic pain in the back and extremities.
Symptoms of spondylitis differ based on the cause and severity of the condition. However, the most common symptoms include:
- Pain and stiffness in back
- Limited mobility
- Strange curvature of spine
- Limited range of motion for spine
- Local and radiating pain in the back, hip, and/or extremities
It is a form of arthritis in which the spine is affected. The vertebra, which means the bones in the spines ends up getting joined and cause stiffness in the spine, resulting in severe pain and discomfort. While in some cases the pain may be negligible or a little more, in some cases it can be so severe that the affected person has to stoop most of the time. Timely diagnosis and treatment can prevent and reduce the pain and also prevent any irreparable damage or deformity.
Lumbar Spondylitis is a term used to describe a group of arthritis-based spine conditions that cause inflammation in the vertebrae and sometimes joints of the spine, in the lower back. Spondylitis generally occurs in the lowest section of the lumbar spine
