AyurVAID Kochi WELCOMES THE MONSOON Season to INDIA!
It has been raining heavily since morning. The AyurVAID team in Ernakulam, Kochi have been relishing the heavy rains after the hot, humid summer.
Time for body-mind-soul to cool down.
Time to relish pristine nature.
Time for classical Ayurveda 'Varshakala Chikitsa'
AyurVAID strongly endorses (former) New York city Mayor Bloomberg in his effort to control Cola Companies and for his activist role in regulating the fast food industry. We hope that the courts rule in favour of more responsible behaviour by businesses. Proactive legislation encourages healthier habits for e.g. by banning transfats from restaurants and posting calorie counts on menus. Conquering disease and sustaining health begins with the food one eats. Ayurveda enjoins everyone to eat with awareness.
It is scary how big business influences, or should I say 'plays with', our latent fears and desires to drive parents to give 'strong medicines' to their children. What till a few years back would have been considered youthful exuberance of children has today become a multi-million dollar industry. This film from the NY Times tells us just how: How Pharmaceutical Cos. Sell A.D.H.D?
Companies engaged in Ayurveda based healthcare services need to be conscious of the expectations of outcomes that they set with their consumers/customers/patients.
I had an opppurtunity to remain connected with the postgraduate institute of training and research in ayu uni of jamnagar as an allopathic surgeon .. teaching shalya students both under and postgraduates.. and with passing time i learned that no science is complete.. and hence a combined effort to any disease or deformity, of the knowledge and skill available in many forms of medical science would help us yield a better outcome of what we do for our patients... in an effort to do so we had added ayurvedic supplements to our patients of cancer receiving chemotherapy/radiotherapy/surgery..
I was diagnosed having colon cancer in June 2005
