Apollo AyurVAID Approach for Agnikarma

Agnikarma is a para-surgical Ayurveda treatment that uses controlled heat application to treat pain mainly in musculoskeletal conditions. Any disorder of Vata and Kapha is considered for this treatment modality, known to produce quick and effective pain relief by non-invasive techniques. It involves applying heated metallic rods (Shalaka), electric cauterisation, plant or animal origin materials on affected areas after a detailed assessment and followed by post-care that includes applying ghee, aloe vera, or honey, to soothe the area. Agni (therapeutic heat) possesses Ushna (hot), Teekshna (sharp/intense) Guna (qualities), which mitigates Seeta guna (cold quality) of Vata and Kapha, helps to promote Ama pachana (digestion of toxins), and thereby removes Avarana (obstruction) and Srotorodha (blockage in body channels), and hence Kapha dosha and Vata dosha get pacified and there is immediate pain relief.
