Chronic Ulcerative Colitis

Location: AyurVAID Hospitals Kadavanthra, Kochi

I’m a 70-year-old social worker. I have one daughter, one son and 5 grandchildren. I still have the hop in my feet to pursue anything and everything that life throws my way. My age isn’t my weakness, it is my strength.

I lost my husband 10 years ago and have dedicated my life to helping the society ever since. Back then, the medical services in Kochi were very limited, so I went to Chennai to get my eyes checked. Initially, they suspected a problem in my brain, but later it was diagnosed that I have a condition in my eyes called Optical Vasculitis. I was under a massive dosage of steroids for 6 months. I had to take 9 tablets per day. Slowly, I started noticing that I’d been facing a lot of digestion problems, stomach pain and my weight started increasing drastically. I did not take this very seriously until the symptoms started aggravating. At first, I thought this was happening because of Piles.  On consulting one of the most well-renowned gastroenterologists in India, it was confirmed that I have Chronic Ulcerative Colitis.

This definitely came across as a shock, and I wasn’t in a mental state to deal with it. Additionally, I was also diagnosed with Diabetes. This was a huge downfall in my health and well-being. I would find it difficult to even walk across the room. Eventually, I yielded to Ayurvedic Treatment. Over there, they immediately assessed that I couldn’t take too many internal medications and potions because of my condition. So, they framed an alternate treatment plan for me. I couldn’t believe it myself, Ayurveda had worked its wonders on me! Most of my issues were under control, I can walk around with much ease now and am hopeful on getting my Diabetes reversed too!
