Ayurveda Approach to Treating Low Back Pain in Women by Dr. Smitha

Low back pain is highly prevalent in women due to various musculoskeletal and non-musculoskeletal causes. Musculoskeletal causes include degenerative disc disease, disc bulges, sacroiliitis, sprains, and infections like extrapulmonary tuberculosis. Non-musculoskeletal causes involve referred pain from pelvic organs such as renal calculus, urinary tract infections, pelvic inflammatory diseases, fibroids, and endometriosis. Pregnancy and childbirth also contribute to low back pain due to muscle strain and increased laxity. Factors like progesterone-induced muscle laxity, reduced physical activity, and holding urges to use restrooms add to the issue.
