Piles, also known as hemorrhoids, are swollen blood vessels within the walls of the rectum and anal canal. In Ayurveda, they are referred to as ‘Arshas.’ Worldwide, the prevalence of piles is estimated at 4.4% in the general population, affecting many individuals. According to Ayurveda principles, piles are caused by imbalances in the doshas, particularly Vata and Pitta.
