What is Parkinson's Disease? By Dr. Zankhana Buch

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive disorder that affects the nervous system and a part of the brain, eventually deteriorating and affecting the nerve-controlled parts of the body. It is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by a dopamine deficiency, thereby affecting motor functions and later also affecting non-motor, autonomic functions of the body. While this condition is best known for affecting muscle control, balance, and movement, it eventually starts affecting one’s senses, thinking ability, and mental health. It ranks second among age-related degenerative brain diseases.
