Sleep Wellness: Ayurveda’s Path to

Feeling drained even after a full night’s rest? In Ayurveda, sleep (Nidra), along with nutrition (Ahara) and controlled lifestyle (Brahmacharya) is considered to be the pillar of well-being, and so disturbed sleep is a gentle signal that something is not right. At Apollo AyurVAID, we meet many people struggling with restless nights, despite their best efforts. Our Peak Health Sleep Programme helps high-performing adults and leaders reclaim deep, restorative sleep for achieving their peak performance at the workplace, while addressing overall wellbeing.

What’s Really Happening?

Nidra (sleep) happens when Tamas (mental and physical inertia) and Kapha dosha enter the heart and slow it down, leading to sleep. Ayurveda links sleep quality to the balance of the three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.

  • Qualitative increase in Vata causes restlessness and difficulty falling asleep.
  • Quantitative increase in Pitta causes awakenings at night and vivid dreams.
  • A decrease in Kapha results in shallow and/or non-restorative sleep.
  • Obstructive sleep apnea usually impacts breathing pathways (the Pranavaha Srotas) and typically requires more nuanced intervention.

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers to help you make an informed decision
When should I go to sleep?

Ideally, 1–3 hours after a meal for better sleep. This allows digestion to settle, reducing Kapha and Tamas buildup, and promotes restorative (Swabhavika) sleep.

How is the Peak Health programme different from a regular health check-up?

A routine check-up gives you numbers and reports, while Peak Health creates a personalised plan including sleep support, therapies, and food guidance so you can actually improve day-to-day wellbeing, not just track it.

Is the programme designed only for individuals who have been diagnosed with a sleep disorder?

No. It’s designed for anyone, especially busy professionals, who want expert, personalised support to improve sleep quality and overall vitality.

How do I start if I’m interested in the Peak Health sleep programme?

Just book a wellbeing consultation at an Apollo AyurVAID centre. The team will assess your lifestyle and sleep patterns, then suggest the right plan length for you.

How do I know which of the three Peak Health programmes is right for me?

In your initial well-being consult, an AyurVAID physician will review your age, goals, and lifestyle and suggest the Sampler, Short term or Reboot plan that is right for you.

Is it possible to combine the sleep-focused plan with other goals, such as stress relief or weight management?

Certainly. The programmes are designed to be personalised, so if relaxing anxiety or weight management matters to you, those goals can be combined with sleep support or another area of focus, such as detox or metabolism.
