Irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS, is a chronic disorder that affects the gastrointestinal tract and is characterized by abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating, and alteration of bowel habits. In Ayurveda, IBS is known as Grahani, a condition caused by an imbalance between Vata and Agni. A survey conducted by the IBS Global Alliance in 2018 shows how it affects around 11% of the population.
