Dr. Deepika Ganju Gunawant

Dr Deepika Ganju Gunawant is an internationally renowned, highly respected, and legendary pioneer of global Ayurveda, serving as the Additional Medical Director at Apollo AyurVAID, with an illustrious career spanning over 40 years of clinical practice, teaching, research, and international policy advocacy. She has a BAMS degree from Kolkata University in 1985 and holds an MD in Ayurveda (1990). Her career began as an Honorary Physician at the Bhowanipore Ayurvedic Clinic in Kolkata, engaging in charitable care and research. She subsequently joined Dabur India Limited, where she led product development, clinical trials, and global business development, representing Ayurveda at numerous national and international seminars. Dr Deepika’s international journey led her to London, UK, where she served as Marketing Director and Chief Physician at the Ayurvedic Company of Great Britain and as an Associate Lecturer at Thames Valley University. She managed classical consultations at the Wimpole Street Clinic in London and served as an Honorary Consultant to the UK Government's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), advising on the safety and regulation of Ayurvedic medicines. After returning to India, she directed global regulatory affairs at Dabur and led integrative wellness initiatives at Max Ventures. She is an active consultant for AYUSH and leading wellness enterprises on product development, has represented Ayurveda at WHO workshops, and initiated clinical trials in Italy. She is the co-author of 'The Complete Illustrated Guide to Ayurveda', available in over 500 academic libraries worldwide. She is the Founder President of the British Association of Accredited Ayurvedic Practitioners (BAAAP) and a Founder Member of the Central Italian Institute of Oriental Medicine (CISMO). In recognition of her invaluable lifetime contributions to the global propagation of Ayurveda, she was awarded the prestigious Pranacharya Award in 2008.
