What distinguishes cervical erosion from cervical ectropion?
Cervical ectropion is occasionally referred to as cervical erosion, however this name is incorrect. Cervical ectropion does not cause cells to "erode." Instead, the cervix "everts," or flips inside out, exposing the glandular cells which line the interior of your cervix to the outside world.
Should we treat Cervical erosion ?
There might not be a need to treat cervical ectropion unless your symptoms are upsetting you. The majority of affected individuals have very few issues. The condition may naturally improve. Talk with a doctor about your treatment choices if you experience persistent, bothersome symptoms, such as mucous discharge, bleeding, or pain during or after sex.
The primary therapy is cauterizing the affected location, which can stop bleeding and unusual discharge. Heat (diathermy), cold (cryotherapy), or silver nitrate can all be used to achieve this.
