Ayurveda Practices for Natural Labor

Sukhaprasava refers to natural labor where minimal assistance or interference is needed during childbirth. Ayurveda emphasizes that the path to such labor begins from day one of pregnancy through prescribed diet and lifestyle practices. In the last trimester, specific regimens are followed to support the natural birthing process. As labor begins, the mother is guided to adopt positions that work with gravity—like crouching over support—to ease delivery. Oil therapies for the head, feet, and pelvic region help with pain relief and relaxation, while mantras and focused breathing reduce anxiety and ensure proper oxygenation for the baby. Nourishing food like Shashtika Shali rice with meat, milk, and ghee provides strength and hydration. Gentle walks and pelvic massages aid the baby’s descent, minimizing the need for medical intervention.
