To Whom It May Concern

My name is MA, and I am a resident of Washington DC. I have been a Diabetic for over 13 years under the care of several endocrinologists during those years.

Toward the end of June 2015, I came under the care of Dr. Zankhana Buch and Dr. Mahadevan Iyer of AyurVaid Hospitals to treat and control the decline of my condition with Diabetes. At that time I was taking several medications and Insulin to control my Diabetes.

Per the prescription of my endocrinologist, I was injecting fast acting Insulin twice before meals and a long acting variety of Insulin at bedtime.

Dr. Zankhana performed the initial screening over the phone and used my existing medical reports to devise a treatment. The team of doctors were consulted and a course of treatment of 2 weeks in duration was suggested. Based on these suggestions, I checked myself into the AyurVaid Hospital Domlur facility to undergo treatment.

After consultation was over the panel of doctors led by Dr. Mahadevan and Dr. Buch prescribed Snehapanam, Udwarthanam, Abhyangam, Virechanam and Vasti treatments to restore the overall balance of my body as prescribed in the Ayurvedic texts.

Snehapanam: Conducted over 4 days, the doctors were able to observe the indications (lakshana’s) and were able to proceed to the next stage.

Udwarthanam: done along with Snehapanam for 4 days to extract/flush toxins from the body.

Abhyangam: Done the day of Virechanam to divert all of accumulated toxins into the excretory system.

Vasti: performed over a period of 4 days 4 Matravasti and 2 Kashyavasti to tone the body.

Further to these several rounds of Pizhichals and Takradhara were also performed to balance the body.

By the third day of treatment, I observed two episodes of hypoglycemia where my blood sugar level fell to ~60. I was advised to progressively taper off the insulin from 18-0-18 and 50 to 12-0-12 and 30. Even with lowered dosage, the hypoglycemia continued, and I was advised to stop insulin. For the remainder of the treatment, my FBS (Fasting Blood Sugar) and PPBS (Postprandial Blood Sugar) readings were within acceptable range for fasting and (2 hours) after meals blood sugar monitoring.

Monitoring also included complete blood reports for Serum Insulin, creatinine, and Glycalted Hemoglobin HbA1c.

The HbA1c level at the start was 7.3 and by the end of treatment was 6.6, (non-diabetic <6.5) and additionally I was completely off Insulin.

I have been asked and prescribed Ayurvedic medicines to be continued for the next 3 months, with ongoing review, consultation, and observation every 15 days.

Overall, my evaluation of the results have been fantastic. I am thrilled with the results – breaking the tie with Insulin – being the crowning achievement of the treatment.

None of this would have possible without the exceptional care, knowledge, and treatment led by Dr. Mahadevan and Dr. Zankhana and the team of doctors assisting them (Dr. Krishnendu, Dr. Sneha, Dr. Surya). I would also like to express my sincere thanks to the therapist team of Sunil, Jyotish, and Dominick, for their meticulous attention to every aspect of care and my comfort.

This has been a positive experience and at discharge time I felt like I was leaving a place where I had been welcomed and made to feel at home.

In closing, I would like to say that the team AyurVaid has converted a skeptic of Ayurvedic treatments and I would definitely recommend anyone with Diabetes to undergo a consultation at AyurVaid and see if it can make difference in their life.
